Cecilia Noriega

Ceclia Noriega is a member of a famous Peruvian ceramics family.  She will be introducing us to her heritage and family business, NOR-MOR (this name comes from the family names of her father, Noriega and her mother, Mosquera.  In this old photo of the family at work you can see some of the figurines they made that represented the daily life of Peruvians.  That’s Cecilia, middle left.

Biography

Cecilia was born in Lima Peru. She came from a family of artists. The whole family was involved in making ceramic figurines that represented the daily life of the Peruvian people.

The whole family immigrated to Canada in 1974.  Cecilia continues to make figurines and miniatures which she has sold in different events. Cecilia Studied at the High School of Commerce Special Art Program, and At Algonquin College in the Recreation program which allowed her to teach art at the Rideau Veterans’ Hospital and the Good Companions’ Centre. Cecilia raised three boys on her own. Now all gone and independent.  She now lives in Chelsea where, in her studio, she develops figurines and sculptures. She is a member of the Ottawa Guild of Potters and also the the Network of sculptors.
