Mud Pies Pottery
I have been a potter for over 18 years and an artist for much longer. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design in Interdisciplinary Studies, I have chosen clay as my medium, which has become my passion. In 2002, I first opened Mud Pies Pottery offering classes, workshops, parties and camps, soon realizing that many people shared my love of clay and working with your hands.
As a member of the Ottawa Potters Guild and its Vice president, I continue to be very involved in the promotion of my craft in the community. My studio doors are always open to students, collectors and to anyone wanting to talk about pots.
I also teach at the Wakefield and Chelsea Elementary Schools, the Glebe and Dovercourt Community Centres, and the Gloucester Pottery School.
My most recent work includes the study of tea bowls, tiles and textured glazes. Japanese influenced, subtle and earthy are some characteristics of my style as I try to bring these quiet objects to life. My work has been shown across the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec at places such as 1001 Pots, Toronto's One of a Kind Show, Signatures, By Hand, Ottawa's Originals, the Ottawa Potters Guild Sales, the Glebe Art in the Park and many more. Presently I sell work out of Cornerstone in Kinsgton, Tea and Ginseng in Ottawa and The Groundz in Almont. My wall tile artwork was recently on display at Soupcon in Wakefield for January and February. My work also includes custom tile work and installation for bathrooms, kitchens, around fireplaces and doorways which has been very exciting and has taken my skills as a potter and artist to a higher level.
