Colette Beardall

After moving to Ottawa and joining the Ottawa Guild of Potters 7 years ago, she has found a sense of commitment and contentment in taking on projects with the Ottawa Guild such as, co-coordinating Great Bowls of Fire, a fundraiser for the Ottawa Food Bank and by taking on the Presidency of the Guild this year. It is a great way to serve your community and to make friends. However, she is anxious to get back to working fulltime in her studio as the ideas are flowing and time is always precious.

Colette studied pottery and sculpture by attending workshops, group classes and hard work in the basement of her home studio. She has been potting since 1996 (as soon as the kids hit school fulltime). A lot of her adventures are by trial and error. (Lots of error!)

She started exhibiting her raku work in the 2nd year of her discovering this medium at various galleries and shows in Alberta. She is in several shows throughout the year in Ottawa, and Kingston and has her work for sale in several stores in the Ottawa area. (Lola's Emporium in Merrickville and The Tea Biscuit in Metcalfe always have stock.) She also teaches pottery to adults and children both privately in her home studio and through the Ottawa School Board. She is available for birthday parties, guide groups, ladies "girls night out" evenings and has over 200 various classes and workshops to choose from.

Colette works out of the basement of her home in the winter months but as soon as the weather allows, moves her studio to the 3 season porch and the backyard so she can relax amongst her animals and her gardens in Metcalfe. Her studio is always open by appointment or by chance. She is working on a website which she hopes will be ready by this summer.

I'd love you to come visit, just please call ahead.
