A lifelong curiosity about wheel throwing was finally explored in 2000 when I took a night course. Watercolour painting had preceded that but somehow the clay was calling! From there, meeting an amazing potter close to home and spending 3 years with her in her studio gave me a solid foundation to find my own way with clay. Serving as President for the Ottawa Guild of Potters introduced me to an even wider community of craftspeople, who continue to inspire and encourage me today.
Enjoying tea in a beautifully made mug just makes me happy! Since the summer of 2000, I have been making functional pots with exactly that aim; to make something that delights both me and those who select my work for one reason or another.Inspiration comes from many places, from Scotland’s heathered hills to my own city’s Canadian Tulip Festival. Potting is an incredibly rewarding escape from the pace and demands of a busy life. The creative process is unending in it’s complexity and lessons – you can’t rush clay!
